2015 Detroit motor show: More details of the Lexus GS F have been released. The V8 saloon will be the second addition to the F range, which began with RC F Coupe.

The GS F Saloon is a four-door with 470bhp and 530Nm of torque, generated by a 5.0-litre 32-valve DOHC V8. That's a healthy improvement on competitors like the BMW M4. Performance figures are, unfortunately, still unknown.

The rest of the exterior design is more subdued than its RC F cousin and less cluttered, such is the nature of adding two extra doors, but there's no missing the trademark Lexus grille, which looks like it could swallow a car.

Gears are changed by an eight-speed automatic, while the driving characteristics of the Lexus RC F can be adjusted between Normal, Eco, Sport S and Sport S+ – depending on whether you want to save fuel or get home a lot faster than usual.

Further driver customisation comes in the form of a Torque Vectoring Differential (TVD), which lets you swap between standard (balance of agility and firmness), slalom (nimble steering response and agility) and Track (enhanced stability for high-speed circuit).

'Extensive' testing at the Nurburgring and in Japan has helped Lexus optimise the performance, with track-focussed equipment like an uprated braking system and tauter suspension lending a hand.

Music fans can tuck into a 17-speaker Mark Levinson stereo system. Those who prefer their soundtrack served by the engine, meanwhile, can enhance the V8 growl using the Active Sound Control system when Sport S and Sport S+ is selected.

Safety wise, the 1,830kg Lexus GS F has a pre-cash safety system that alerts the driver to any potential hazards, braking assistance and, in the case of an emergency, automatic braking. There's also a lane departure alert and adaptive high beam assist.

We'll let you know the UK price and specs when Lexus spills the beans later in 2015.
